Water Bottle Fountain Experiment

When you invert the water bottle then plain water of the bottle starts to flow out from drainage straw due to gravity and air pressure decreases inside the bottle.

You will find a beautiful colored water fountain starts to shoot up in your water bottle without any mechanical pump and electricity. This experiment has lots of variations and many different ways of building depending upon time and resources. You ll notice that water will rise up through the straw to the same height as the water inside the bottle. This is due to equal air pressure pushing downwards through the opening of the straw and the bottle.

Wear a thick glove or oven mitt to handle the bottle. We might just decide to feature it here. Add the funnel to your bottle and carefully pour your water into the bottle. This is the hardest part of the activity and is best done by an adult.

Now to make the water bottle fountain carefully with a pen poke a hole in the empty bottle just big enough for a straw to poke through and seal with blue tac. If the bottle is wet the blu tac will be hard to stick. If you make one why not film it and upload it to youtube you never know. Empty the water into a jug so you can boil it again to repeat the experiment or pour it on a plant once it has cooled down.
